Message from the President - 25th October

25 Oct 2019 by Jennifer Wolfgramm

Dear KLLAC members,

Firstly I would like to say that it has been a fantastic 6 weeks so far for KLLAC. Its been so great seeing all our returning members and meeting all our new members. Our registration numbers have increased from last year which is fantastic!

Secondly, I would like to thank you all for your patience over the last couple of weeks where we have had our computer/starting gun causing issues on the track. Unfortunately this is a software issue and we are aware that other athletics centre are experiencing similar problems. Our committee members have been working behind the scenes and will do their best to get us back to running smoothly again.

It would be prudent at this stage to remind everyone of a few housekeeping rules that we always remind everyone at the beginning of the season:

1. Our fields, as is the case for all Little Athletics Centres, are a smoking-free venue. We cannot have any smoking at all in the vicinity of our athletes.

2. We very much encourage our parents and carers to follow their groups around. We ask that where possible, please assist the age managers with both crowd control (big groups of excited kids need many eyes to keep under control!) and help with running the events. This is a great way to get more involved and share in the Friday night experience with your kids. Everyone who runs Friday night are volunteers, and many hands make light work. We also ask that you keep the sidelines of the track, where the starters and computers are situated, clear at all times. This is so as not to block the view so we can keep the night running efficiently. We also ask your assistance with the younger age groups to keep the children in their lanes at the end of the races, or for the long distance races in a line in finishing order, so that their result may be recorded correctly. There has been some cases where children have walked away and we have not been able to allocate their time to them.

3. At this stage in the competition, we now require all athletes to have their numbers attached to their singlets. This is so the officials can record their results efficiently and without error, and so that we can ensure all athletes participating are registered. It is no longer acceptable to have previous year’s numbers or numbers written on hands. Please feel free to pin the numbers on the singlets if you have not yet got them sewn on.

4. With regards to results, our officials and age managers are working hard to enter/upload our results each week. We ask that you check your child’s results via ResultsHQ each week, and if you see anything that doesn’t seem right, please feel free to check with your age manager the following week, or email our Age Manager Co-ordinator Duke on dwolfgramm@hallchadwick.com.au and he will happily look into it for you.

If you have any questions or concerns, feel free to see me on a Friday night or email me on president@kllac.org.au.

I hope that you and your children keep enjoying the season!

Jen Wolfgramm
President
